Wish Stickers & Washi Tape Haul | Affordable Bujo Supplies

Getting started in bullet journaling can be expensive! When I joined the Bullet Journal Lovers Facebook group last year, the number of posts asking about where to buy supplies stood out to me. People from all over the world shared their favourite stores, but a lot of them mentioned having hit-and-miss experiences with Wish.

If you’re not familiar with Wish, it can be a bit overwhelming. It’s a huge online marketplace that services more than 100 countries and, through its many merchants, sells pretty much anything you could think of. It’s similar to eBay in that it’s a platform for many small sellers, but without the secondhand item options.

My own history with Wish has been patchy too - the floral stamps I bought in 2019 have been great! The pomegranate keychain I ordered in 2020 not so much… after several months of waiting, a cherry keychain arrived instead. Since I specifically wanted a pomegranate keychain for my car, which I named Persephone, it was supposed to be a whole theme - the cherries were a big letdown!

I hadn’t ordered from Wish again after that, but after taking a peek recently I was tempted by the low prices and sheer variety of stickers, washi tapes and more available on the platform. Here’s what caught my eye - and held it, so much so I jumped in and clicked “purchase”!

If you'd like to check out any of these items on Wish for yourself, click the headings - they are all links to the listings I purchased from.

What a great one-stop solution for a new bullet journaler! This comprehensive set contains a mix of printed papers of various sizes, solid colour and printed stickers, three thin washi tapes, printed polaroid cards and translucent film strips, all in a single, matching colour scheme and bundled together in a plastic zip folder. It’s like a capsule wardrobe for your bullet journal!

I chose style 3, the green version. It’s very cottagecore, with images of ducks, deer and bunnies, but also very social media themed, with Instagram and text-message style papers.

My folder of goodies didn’t completely survive their journey to me unscathed - the larger paper pieces have some dents and folds in them, and the washi tapes are a bit wonky and dented too. I think the tape rolls are actually the culprit - when smooshed together with other packages, the firm washi tape rolls pressed into the rest of the goodies.

I think this bundle is a great way to get a bunch of supplies that all match very affordably! If you’re new to bullet journaling and don’t consider yourself very arty or creative, this bundle would be perfect for you.

80pc Pastel Washi Stickers set - AU$4

These stickers come in a variety of shapes and largely depict vacation-reminiscent images - beaches, festoon lighting, sunlit streets and soft florals. They’re washi stickers, which means they’re made from the same soft, semi-translucent paper stuff as most washi tape. Washi stickers are my very favourite kind of sticker, since they sit very flush to your page, they’re very flexible, and they don’t affect the use of any following pages. They’re also very delicate, and can be hard to get off their backing!

Black & Gold Botanical Stickers - AU$3

Unfortunately these are out of stock at the time I’m posting this.

These stickers have already made an appearance in my journal! You’ll see them in my February setup here! The Wish listing shows mostly colourful celestial and floral and geometric stickers, but I was drawn to these beauties - style 11 - for their simplicity. They’re quite large stickers, as you can see in the photos above where they’re laid out over my A5 journal, and that makes them a bit tricky to work with, but they worked well with my minimalist February spreads.

10pc washi tape set - AU$9

I expected these washi tapes to not be very sticky, since they were so affordable - I’ve been burned by cheap washi tape before. I was pleasantly surprised when I swatched them in my journal!

You don’t get a LOT of each tape - the description says 3 metres of each but I’m not sure how accurate that is, since it also says each of the tapes are 1cm wide and mine are of varying widths.

I chose style 19 because I fell in love with these colours, but they also have sets of 5, 8 and 12 rolls available in different colours and designs. I’ve seen single rolls of washi tape go for more than $9 in other parts of the internet, so I really couldn’t recommend this set of 10 enough.

I’m quite picky about the paper I stick into my journal. In the past I’ve used thick scrapbooking card stock, then struggled on the following pages when the edges made it difficult to write cleanly. This paper feels almost like vellum - translucent, and certainly not as thick as card stock, but also not fragile or fine. I like torn edges on my papers in my journal, but it remains to be seen whether this paper will tear easily or not.

There is a wide range of patterns to choose from in one pack - I chose style A in blue, and it also offers a few greener-toned options, which will work great with the items from the green folder set I mentioned first in this post.

I was hoping this stencil set would serve as an affordable alternative to Notebook Therapy’s considerably more expensive Tsuki Stencil Set, but I was disappointed. These stencils are made from a very flexible and bendy plastic, and I’m not convinced they’d be easy to hold down on a page while using them - you might even need to tape them into place. They’re sized to fit comfortably on an A5 page.

I’ve got mixed feelings about the stencil designs themselves. Some of the more obviously planner-oriented ones would likely never line up with the dots in a dotted journal, but might work wonderfully for those who use a blank or lined page journal. I think the floral stencil is so cute, but some of the others seem completely useless to me. I would have loved to see some alternative stencil edges to help make clean not-straight lines in your journal, too.

Maybe I’m just not who these were made for, but they left me feeling pretty underwhelmed. Maybe in this instance, you get what you pay for.

Lace Paper Set - AU$5

Do these elegant lace papers not scream “soft girl” to you? I have big ideas for these already! Each of the ten pages are different, with clean and delicate laser-cut lace edges on clean, crisp white paper. They’re quite big, I’m not sure if I’ll end up using them whole or cutting them in half, but I do love that they contrast against the cream-coloured pages of my notebook.

These papers are very delicate, so handle with care!

40pc Washi Stickers with Irregular Shapes - AU$3

Can you see a colour theme forming here? Unfortunately the style I ordered (style 1) appears to be unavailable at the time I’m posting this - hopefully it’s back soon!

These washi stickers are very similar to the 80pc pack I mentioned above, but also still quite different. The image content is the same - beach scenes, fluffy clouds and streetscapes - but a lot of these stickers incorporate text as well, both in English and Japanese. They have some very fun shapes as well!

I haven’t opened or swatched this washi tape because it’s a gift for a friend - but I’m so impressed with the lovely rainbow sheen on the unicorn design! Sometimes when you order online you THINK you’re getting something holographic, and then you get something very different! I can’t speak to the quality, since I haven’t opened, but through the packaging it looks great!

Let’s Talk Logistics - Cost and Shipping Time

In total I ordered 9 items at $54.60 (Australian dollars), with an additional $34.60 for shipping.

When you buy on Wish, you’re charged shipping separately per individual item, since they’re actually all coming from different merchants. I opted for a click-and-collect option through my local parcel hub, which made it a little cheaper than having every item shipped directly to me. Wish also offer time-sensitive discounts if you add things to your cart quickly - they definitely want to encourage impulse spending! If you’re a many-browser-tabs kind of shopper like me, I’d recommend trying to limit how many items you’re opening in new tabs for later perusal - you might miss out on some savings!

I used the Honey browser extension to score a $10.92 discount (again, not sponsored) so in total my order came to $78.28.

In total, my order took just under three weeks to arrive. I placed my order on December 5 2021, and it arrived at the parcel point on December 24.

Final Thoughts

I’m not sure if I just got really lucky with this order, or if it’s hard to mess up stationery, but I’m very happy with my new bujo goodies! For the most part, they’re exactly what I was hoping for.

If you’d like to see me use any of these items, let me know in the comments below or on my Instagram! I’d love to hear from you.

Since I stuck to mostly stickers and washi tape this time, let me know if there are any other stationery items you’d like to see me try from Wish!
