January Paris Bullet Journal Theme | Giveaway Journal

Ooh la la! January marks one year since I embarked on my big Europe trip, and one of the highlights was Paris - so it felt like the natural choice to set up this sweet and adorable Paris-themed January in the giveaway journal, using Hubman & Chubgirl’s adorable Paris bundle!

Watch this theme take shape in the video below, or scroll on for detail photos and item links!

About the Giveaway Journal

This journal isn’t actually mine to keep - it’s a fully-decorated six-month journal, covering from January to June 2024, that I’m giving away to one lucky viewer! [This giveaway is now closed - stay tuned for the July-December Giveaway journal, which I’ll be posting about in May!] Since I’m using a lot of paint in my own journal for 2024, I wanted to make sure I’m still making videos that show an easier way to journal, showcasing cute stationery, and using some of the items from my stash that I might not have had the chance to use this year otherwise. I also didn’t want to set up a whole journal, only to then… not use it. So giving it away was the natural choice! You’ll see each month in the Giveaway Journal as it approaches, but just remember it will be long out of my hands by then. I really hope the winner finds it useful and loves living in their new journal!

Cover Page & Calendar Page

Everything from Hubman & Chubgirl is intensely adorable, so I didn’t need to work very hard to put this theme together - especially since the Paris bundle offered so many wonderful elements designed to look great together! My letter stamps here under the Eiffel Tower sticker were actually supposed to match the January lettering in that warm beige, but I neglected to clean my stamps first - and I use them with black markers a lot, so black lettering we got!

For the calendar, I went with a simple grid layout with boxes 3.5 spaces wide and four spaces tall. This is a great formula to fit a full calendar on a single A5 page, while still having lots of room to use it!

Tracker Spread - Habits, Mood & Sleep

I’m SO proud of this tracker spread - especially the Eiffel Tower mood tracker! Ideally, the winner of this journal will be able to track six habits on the left side of the spread, colour in an Eiffel Tower triangle to match their mood in the centre of the spread, and track their sleep with the table on the right side of the spread. I accidentally added a few too many triangles to the mood tracker, but I’m still so happy with how this looks overall! Check out the video embedded above if you’d like a little demonstration of how this works.

Snapshot, Meal Planner & Spending Log Pages

I’m grouping all these functional single-page layouts together this time.

If you’re familiar with my own journal from most of 2023, you’ll have seen my goals, favourites & musings pages. I’ve included those in the giveaway journal too - but I’ve given them the overarching name of the monthly “snapshot”. This is a place to set monthly goals: a great way to break annual goals into smaller, achievable chunks; note down anything you were especially enjoying this month, and get anything that was on your mind, off your mind in the musings section.

I love this meal planner layout - it's so straightforward and organised, but also looks great on the page - especially opposite something like the snapshot! It has dedicated columns for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, so you can comprehensively plan out your meals in advance - helping you eat healthier and save money.

The spending log is pretty self-explanatory - a place to note down where you spend your money - but it’s also designed to work alongside the budget page back at the start of the journal. At the end of the month, you can add your spending up by category, then refer back to the spending limits set on the budget page and determine if you’re on track, overspent, or underspent in that category this month.

Spare Page

Since this journal isn’t actually for me, I’m trying to make sure I think of everything for whoever ends up owning it. In this case, including an extra blank-but-decorated page will allow our winner to add their own extra trackers, collections, or even just a fun quote page to their January. It could also work well for a memory keeping page! The possibilities here are endless!

Weekly Spread 1 - Vertical Columns

Vertical weeklies are my favourites - so much space for lists! I’ve added a notes column on the right side to help keep this one symmetrical and balanced.

Weekly Spread 2 - Even Rectangles

This is such a cute and impactful weekly - you can include a Notes section in the bottom right corner if you’d like to keep things minimal, but I love a decorative moment! Instead, I’ve added a plaid background with pink markers, and layered some stickers to bring some boldness to this spread. Still stacks of space for planning, but it also features Notre Dame cathedral! How fun!

Weekly Spread 3 - Horizontal Spaces

I had so much fun making that plaid marker background on the previous spread, I did it again on this one. This is a great weekly if you have some larger stickers or decorative elements you want to use, without sacrificing planning space - but it does use a horizontal system for the weekly spaces, which some of us (ie me) find a little less intuitive to use.

Weekly Spread 4 - Even Rectangles with Centre Decor

How do you make the same layout look completely different? Vary where you put your stickers! This is exactly the same basic setup as weekly 2 above, except instead of staggering my stickers around the corners of the rectangular boxes, I’ve focused them all horizontally through the centre of the page.
